Bilmar Inn & Suites Dell Rapids Near Sioux Falls

The mattress and bedding in our room were new and really comfortable, and the room itself was clean. We spent one night here while visiting family in Dell Rapids. The owner said she’d recently taken over management and was renovating, with new flooring, furniture, and decor in progress. I hope this small family business does well as it updates the hotel and works to please guests.

The location is the only real plus, since this is the only hotel in Dell Rapids. Our room had ants, and I wasn’t confident about the cleanliness. There’s no housekeeping unless you stay more than three days, and the breakfast wasn’t even basic. The hallway and room also had a strong, unpleasant smell. Towels and sheets were very worn and badly need replacing, and the rooms feel extremely tired. We won’t stay again. I think the owners could do better even while trying to keep prices down.

The beds had lots of hair and trash by the headboard, and we got many bug bites during our stay. The room wasn’t cleaned properly, and the three towels were stained and ragged; one had white sealant stuck all over it. The furniture and bedding are old and outdated, and look like they’ve been used for years. Breakfast was Raisin Bran, Frosted Flakes, hard cookies, and bread. Motel 8 looks like a dream next to this place. It says there’s 24-hour front desk service, but after 10 pm, if you need anything, expect the owner to yell at you because he’s asleep instead of working. It’s just the husband and wife, with no other staff. We had two adults and three children in the room, and the owner knew that from the email and when we checked in. Three days into our stay, he changed the price and charged us another $50. When I asked why, he got very angry and said I wasn’t welcome back. I won’t be back or recommend this dirty, trashy hotel. The owner is extremely rude, as anyone in town can tell you. I’d stay in Sioux Falls or anywhere else and save myself the hassle. I wouldn’t be surprised if the only positive reviews were from the owner’s family, since everyone I’ve talked to had negative things to say. Don’t waste your time or money or support this bad business.

I’ve stayed here several times and never had a bad experience. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and it’s budget friendly. I’d have no problem choosing this hotel again when I’m in the area.
