Comfort Inn & Suites Deming

It was surprisingly quiet given how many guests were there, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The property is well kept and clearly busy. The only issue for us was the pet area labeled “grassy”: it had stickers that got into our pets’ paws, while the rest of the area was rock.

Most of the staff are great, but several things were out of order: the ice machines on two floors hadn’t worked for three to four weeks, and the pool and hot tub had been down for two and a half weeks. Also, the front desk guy was smoking a blunt by the hotel entrance off and on for hours in the middle of the day.

Michael was really friendly and helpful when I checked out, and I had a pleasant stay overall. My room was comfortable and clean. Parking could be tricky if you arrive late with a large vehicle, and the toilet’s low water pressure was inconvenient in certain situations. I’d consider staying again, though I’m not sure that issue alone would make me choose this hotel.

At least nine trains went by overnight because the hotel is close to the railroad tracks. Check-in dragged, and even though I had an advance reservation, the desk staff seemed confused. The room was cold with the heat off, and it took more than two hours to reach 70 degrees. Most concerning, the shower and tub had a slippery bottom, so I spread a bath towel in the tub to avoid slipping. Breakfast? Pass.
