Motel 6 Deming, NM

The one good thing was that the location felt safe. The rooms had been renovated, but the result looked terrible, with paint splatters everywhere and old paint showing at the edges. The pillows were lumpy, and the mattress and sheets felt like they were 20+ years old. This was the second motel 6 on our road trip from MN to AZ, and by far the worst. We paid more than at the great Motel 6 in North Platte, NE. The innkeepers wore sweatpants and shirts, making it feel like we were arriving at someone's home instead of a business. I'm not impressed with this location or management's choices, including the no refund policy (?).

The only upside was that it was pet friendly, though there wasn't a decent spot for the dogs to use the restroom. Luckily there was a dog park nearby. We paid a total of $119.63 for this armpit of a motel. The room was dusty and not very clean, the Jacuzzi was broken, and the coffee was lukewarm at 7 am. We were charged $15 extra for an outside room so we could stay close to and see our truck loaded with our stuff. The guy said the place would fill up and those rooms cost extra, but it was Thursday night and plenty were still available by 11:00 pm and the next morning. We'd made a reservation and would have lost our money if we left, so we stayed and paid the extra. DONT STAY HERE! If I could give it less than one star, I would.

We've stayed here multiple times, and it's our go-to place in the area. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are super clean and quiet, and there's plenty of parking. Even though our room was in back near the interstate, we barely heard any noise. Rooms with a microwave and fridge cost a little less than at other motels in town, and they're still very affordable. There's an Indian restaurant close by, plus plenty of fast food, and we're near the Mexican border, which was our actual destination. I always choose Motel 6 because it doesn't charge extra for my dog. I'm always happy with Motel 6, and this one is especially one of the best.

This was easily the best of the 4 Motel6s we stayed at on this trip. The young couple on staff were friendly, and the rooms were the biggest and cleanest. It's right off I-10 at Exit no 81, with easy access and a big parking area. Our 2beds room with an outside door straight to the parking lot cost the same as the other M6s, but was so much better. Very happy with the value. Thank you.
