Denali Bluffs

The views were great, the heat worked, and they brought towels and refreshed my coffee when I asked. Food and bar service were good too, apart from my husband's cold ribs, which the bartender fixed. The shuttles were mostly on time. Still, everything was very expensive, and the resort grounds are steep and hilly. There's no maid service unless you request it. The noise was the big problem for me. We stayed two nights, and both times the shower next door was so loud it sounded like it was in our room. It ran for an hour, with loud fans too. I could hear every word from people on the other side, and every squeak and thump from upstairs. I went to bed at 10 and was still awake at 11:30. To me, a quiet room is 90% of the service. I want a good night's sleep. If noise doesn't bother you, it might not be a bad place to stay.

The shuttle was a big help. It follows a set route, though the drivers made small adjustments for guests several times. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was clean and well run, with amazing views. The room was fine, but the mattresses and linens were pretty basic. Dinner at the Mountaineer Grill and Bar was lovely, and The Perky Moose made me an amazing latte every morning. The cafe also had plenty of grab-and-go options like instant oatmeal, frozen breakfast sandwiches, and bagels.

Our room was modern and colorful, and we were lucky to have the laundry room in our building. The front desk staff were helpful, and the food at the on-site restaurant was good, though expensive. I had COVID and our train wasn't until 4 PM, but they wouldn't allow a late checkout. There was nowhere to sit in the lobby, so we had to leave the premises. I know they were booked, but surely they couldn't clean every room all at once.

The location is fantastic, and the staff are super friendly. The rest felt more like glamping than a hotel. Our room had no space at all for a family of four, and the old mattresses were awful, with one leaning in a corner. The tiny bathroom is basically a closet. The shower pipe leaks onto the wall, which is bubbling and looks like it's been painted over more than once. There's no AC in the rooms, and nobody mentioned that when we called to book. We had to borrow a fan from the front desk and prop the door open, while traffic from the highway right below kept going all night. The TV was about the size of a small computer monitor and really grainy. The lobby bathroom was super nice, but the women's restroom had no soap the whole time we were there.
