Knotty Pine Delight

We chose the place for its view and the number of suites, and it delivered on both. The deck view is hard to beat, and there was enough space and entertainment for the wedding guests. The kitchen could feed everyone for almost every meal. But for the price, it was disappointing how many things didn't work or weren't as promised. We were told when we booked that the flooring on the two lower levels would be replaced before our September stay, but it wasn't. Some rooms had problems with tubs or fans, and the fridge shelves were broken. One hot tub held water but wouldn't heat, so the kids used it as a pool. Some of the games didn't work either.

There are three floors, so expect plenty of stair climbing if you're visiting the other levels. We had a bathroom leak into the room below, and it took a while for a repair person to come check it out. The place was spacious, with a movie theater, hot tub, large dining area, and a great view. All in all, it was a great place to stay.

The view alone is breathtaking, and the bathtubs in every room were fabulous. The place is pretty and could work for lots of functions. The event I attended was intimate, and it worked for that. There was fun for everyone, too. Some things could use more attention: the rooms really need insulation, and some chairs had ripped fabric or leather. Accessibility is limited, since there are many floors but no elevator, so anyone with a disability could only enjoy the top floor. A huge letdown was that none of the fireplaces worked, and neither did the fire pit. I assume the propane hadn't been refilled. I was a guest, not the renter.

We loved being in the mountains, surrounded by nature and away from Gatlinburg traffic. Our family reunion had 40 people staying here, and everyone had a great time. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, and about half the rooms have bunk beds. There was space to gather with everyone, as well as enough room to get some time alone.
