Holland America Denali Lodge

Holland America owns the resort, and our stay came with the cruise and land package. We didn't eat at the lobby restaurants, which looked nice, but they were very, very pricey even by Alaskan standards. Our room had two beds, one of them a single. That bed bounced like a trampoline and slanted, so I kept waking up nearly off it. The kids' room had a crack in the front door, which made it feel less secure.

The grounds were beautiful, with lots of space to walk around and explore. Our room was simple but spacious, with a bedroom and a sitting room. We stayed at the Denali Lodge after our Holland America Cruise, and the customer service was excellent, just like on the cruise. The food at the Lodge was similar to what we had on board.

This felt more like a cheap motel than a resort. The rooms were old, worn, and dated, with few amenities and poor overall quality. We stayed in canyon lodge, where there was no reception and no coffee. The room was very hot even though it was under 50 degrees outside. There was no safe, little storage, and the layout was poor. Two stars at best for the room.

Our room had plenty of space, with two separate bedrooms, and a very lodgy decor. The resort as a whole is beautiful, with cool shops and a couple of restaurants. My wife bought a water-resistant jacket that was perfect for touring Alaska.
