Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Denton

The staff were consistently courteous, professional, and quick to help whenever needed. My stay at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Denton was very pleasant, with clean, well-climatized rooms that were practically equipped for business or a short visit. The facilities were in excellent working condition, and the experience met the brand’s quality standards. A highly recommended choice when visiting Denton for work or personal travel.

We paid $189 and it was not great. Since the hotel had been redone, I figured it would be nice, but it reminded me of Motel 6. There was a smell in the room, and when I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, my little friend the roach was in there. I wish I’d had my phone to take a picture. Worst $189 for this hotel. Do better, spray, and get new carpets!

We drove five hours and arrived to find out our reservation had been canceled, even though I’d received four confirmation emails, including check-in instructions, and it was secured with my Marriott Bonvoy card. I’d booked the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Denton on Nov. 1, then got confirmations on 11/3, 11/5, and 11/6 at 7:10 AM, our arrival day. The employee gave no explanation. When I asked about the same room, I was told there were no King Suites left, but I could book a lesser room for about $50 more than the King Suite. After the long drive and all those emails, I was upset. Manager Jina Scott was rude and unhelpful. She didn’t try to look into it or call Marriott, and just recited reservation rules when I said I’d contact Marriott. This is a franchised Marriott, so corporate basically did nothing. I never found out why the reservation was canceled.

The staff kindly put our frozen items in the hotel freezer when the little refrigerator couldn’t keep them frozen. The place is nice, but the shower fixture that switches between tub and shower was broken, and so little water came out that it took a while to get cleaned up. I’m guessing it’s hard to find good maintenance people.
