Old Irish Inn

I booked another night while writing this because I really don’t want to leave. The hot tub and private backyard space are lovely too. Thank you. After months of trying to get care for our child, who has severe mood swings and aggression, my husband told me to go get a room. Inpatient care said IOP/PHP; they said autism and recommended neuropsych testing for ABA; they said not autistic, and now we’re waiting on residential treatment. It’s been brutal. I was exhausted mentally and physically. I couldn’t imagine wanting to be anywhere but in my own bed, making sure everyone at home was taken care of. I didn’t want a noisy, stuffy hotel far away, and there aren’t any close to us. My pleas for even one day to breathe were being answered, and I hoped to find somewhere near home, just in case, with a comfortable bed and fresh air. I don’t know how I found this place. We’ve lived in Aubrey for 12 years and never heard of it. It’s amazing here: fresh air, animals to watch from the windows while in bed, the most comfortable bed and comforter, and a cozy, peaceful retreat. I didn’t want to leave home, but now I don’t want to leave here.

We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, B&Bs, and cabins, and this was my favorite. The room felt warm and comfortable, and they’d added a few thoughtful touches for guests. I’ve never slept on a more comfortable bed. Thanks for such a great stay.

The cabins were just okay and could’ve been cleaned better. The heater made so much noise it kept us awake, and the water heater may be too small because there wasn’t enough hot water for two showers. Also, they don’t offer bed and breakfast anymore, despite advertising it.

It’s a neat little place with animals, though the pond is green. I had some confusion at check-in, but the staff sorted out my issues quickly on Friday, which I really appreciated. The other two people in our group had a harder time on Saturday. Keep in mind that most, if not all, of the five-star reviews talk about how great Jim was as a host and mention breakfast. Jim is no longer there, and there’s no breakfast.
