Kimpton Claret Hotel by IHG

The hotel itself was well kept, with friendly service that was immediate. There’s a nice bar on the lobby level, comfortable beds, and very good walk-in showers. The rooms also have beer, wine, and liquor available to pay for as you open them. Upstairs, the rooftop turns into a lively bar and dance spot for anyone wanting to stay out late. It sits in the center of a large, new development, a busy, fast-paced, high-income area full of upscale hotels, apartments, and lofts, with plenty of fine dining nearby. I felt the price matched the quality and value, if not beating the competition. I’d love to stay again.

The drinks in the lobby and at social hour were excellent. The hotel also feels new, with a fresh, modern design, but there were some careless details: the paper coasters looked dirty and reused, snacks past their expiration date were left out, there was no bottle opener, and our room for two had only one bathrobe. There was even a hole in the bedsheets, surprising for a new hotel. As a Platinum Elite member, we were offered what they called an upgrade, but it only switched the view from city to mountain. An apartment building stands directly across from the window, so we could see only about 30% of the mountain. Compared with upgrades I’ve had at other hotels at the same membership tier, this felt meaningless. We also had late checkout, but housekeeping knocked at 10 a.m. and left without saying anything when we opened the door. Management has plenty of details to pay closer attention to.

Lauren noticed that a member of her team had made our experience uncomfortable, and she quickly put things right. Her customer service made our night, and we’ll remember how she treated us when choosing where to stay on our next Denver visit. Another shoutout to Leonardo too.

The staff were very friendly, and the front desk attendant clearly explained the details of my stay. There was a lovely bathtub in my room, and the decor was really nice. I especially enjoyed the excellent food from both the restaurant and rooftop bar, plus the standout food and drink options, including a daily social with complimentary alcoholic drinks. I had a great stay and highly recommend the hotel.
