Channel House

From our corner whale watching suite, we saw an amazing number of whales right from the bedroom. The location and view are excellent, and I haven’t seen another quite like it. Our room was clean, with what looked like some recent improvements, including the shower, granite countertops, and slate stone fireplace. The linens were comfortable, and I liked having bathrobes, bath salts, and a large tub on the porch. The tub was very clean, which I mention because of a few past reviews I’d read. We mostly had a quiet stay. On our last night, the people in the next room’s outdoor tub were talking and playing music loudly for an hour after midnight, so we couldn’t sleep. That wasn’t Channel House’s fault, though it would’ve been nice if the guests had followed quiet hours. Based on other comparable hotels nearby, this is a great choice in Depoe Bay. We hope to visit again.

We made the most of the ocean air by keeping all the doors and windows open throughout the weekend. The room at the Channel House was a big part of why our weekend in Depoe Bay was so amazing. Great view, plenty of room, and good service from housekeeping and the front desk.

Room #2 wasn’t my favorite, but it’s a cozy little space with a nice view from inside. It works well if you don’t need a wide deck and plan to spend most of your time out doing things. For a honeymoon sort of stay, when you’re focused on each other and the comfort of the boudoir, it could be a good fit. There’s cable TV, a fireplace, comfortable seating, and a coffee table for romantic evenings or scenic mornings. The deck has a jetted tub for two, with towels and scented bath salts, so you can soak and enjoy the view. Inside, there’s a small wine fridge stocked with wine that can also hold other drinks, fruit, or dessert. More wine is available at the front desk. You also get a coffee maker, a small sink, cups, coffee pods, sugar, and cream packets.

The staff are so kind and make you feel like they’re glad you came. We’ve been to Channel House two years running and already booked another visit. Our room was cozy and lovely, and the views over Depoe Bay and the ocean are hard to beat. From the balcony hot tub, we watched whales, sea lions, sea birds, and seals playing in the water. Can’t wait to return!
