Hampton Inn & Suites Deptford

It's easy to get to and close to what brought us to the area. The bathroom was clean and the bed comfortable, but room cleaning needs serious help. There were toys behind the beds, crumbs on the floor between them and by the dresser, and someone else's phone charger beside the desk. The wall unit between the beds was also pulling away from the wall.

The beds and room were comfortable, and there was lots of parking. It's good value and well located, so I gave it three stars overall. Breakfast was fine for the price, not five star, and the breakfast staff were friendly. The weekday morning host wasn't welcoming or hospitable, though the weekend and night staff were the complete opposite. The pool isn't heated, and having towels there was hit or miss. There were only two sets of towels for our family of four. The front lobby was dirty in the afternoon, and guests left food outside their rooms for hours. The sofas in our room were worn out, as were the ones in the lobby.

The two women working Sunday breakfast were amazing, polite, helpful, and smiling. One even helped clean my baby's bottle before our road trip home. They deserve a raise. Our check-in on Saturday at 3pm was the opposite, and those two women deserved reprimanding, maybe even firing. A manager should have been there when several large groups were staying. We arrived for a wedding with my four children, including a four month old. The wedding started at 4, and we would have had just enough time to get ready, but there were about five people ahead of us and no rooms available. A manager had given a very large group a 5pm checkout, even though they knew a wedding group was coming. The staff wouldn't explain what was happening and kept disappearing into the back for long stretches. We eventually got a random room and had five minutes to get eight people ready, including a baby, then drive 15 minutes to the wedding. I didn't get the room I'd requested, so there wasn't enough space for my family. I'm very dissatisfied and would like compensation. I don't recommend this hotel for large groups; they don't know how to handle them.

For a Hamilton, the room wasn't bad. The gym and pool were nice to have, but there was only coffee, no tea. The walls were paper thin, and kids staying there ran down the hall all night. The other guests were awful.
