This place needs a major update, and it needs a new housekeeper. There were cobwebs and spiders on the heater in our room, and the beds need updating too. We were charged a $100 deposit and told it would be returned. We stayed on March 7, 2026, and I still haven’t gotten it back. The heat wasn’t on when we arrived, and there was a small space heater in the room. It was 10 degrees outside. After I called, they sent a teenager to deal with it. He said he thought the breaker had tripped. I’m sure they don’t think we can operate a thermostat. Right. The number the front desk gave me at check-in didn’t answer when I called about the deposit. They don’t return calls or texts. I called the Oskaloosa police department about what happened, and the officer wasn’t surprised. I guess keeping the deposit is their new policy. He gave me another number, but again, no calls or texts were returned. They run a dump and steal your money. I also forgot to mention they run a liquor store from the same location. Don’t stay here if you don’t want your money taken and don’t want to sleep in a filthy room you wouldn’t let your animals stay in.

The room was clean, and the housekeeper was sweet and quick to make sure we were taken care of. Her son helped me too, and she reassured us that the place was safe. The other people he had working for him made me nervous.

The woman at the front desk was lovely and treated me so kindly, which made the stay really pleasant. Whenever I’m in Oskaloosa, Iowa, I’ll stay at this hotel. Thanks again for the great service.

I’ve stayed here for years, and the owners are the sweetest. They’re always ready to help, whatever the hour. I’ve driven up from Texas and arrived at 2 or 3 a.m., and they still welcomed me warmly. It’s five minutes from town and two minutes from the gym. DoorDash delivers here, and it’s always quiet and peaceful.

The housekeeper was kind and helpful whenever we ran into a problem, and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were clean, though it took a while for the hot water to warm up in the shower. Once it did, we had warm water. It’s an older hotel, but they’re trying to improve it, so give them a chance. Getting there and back is easy, and it’s about 35 minutes from the Knoxville race track. We came for the Knoxville National and still got a room thanks to the woman I believe was the owner, who was very nice and helped us out. Our Booking.com reservation hadn’t come through in their information when we arrived. I’m grateful she sorted it out. I recommend calling the hotel directly instead of booking through Booking.com.
