Home2 Suites Des Moines at Drake University

After a 10-hour drive, I was so grateful for the quick help. The people in the room above me were unbelievably loud on the night of 5/26/26, but the woman at the front desk sorted it out fast and moved me to another room. I asked for extra pillows too, and they arrived within minutes. Excellent service.

Our room was clean and quiet, but a couple of things left me concerned. We weren’t acknowledged as Gold Honors members, and the toilet paper was 1-ply, like what you’d find in a camper or portapotty. The key card issue was far more serious. A couple with a dog came right into our room because their card worked there. Our room was 533 and theirs was 233; they’d gotten off the elevator on the wrong floor, and their key still opened our door. My husband was dressed, but I wasn’t, and thankfully he stopped them from entering. When we told the front desk, the employee just said it was odd. There was no apology and no indication they’d pass the issue on to management. Very concerning.

This feels like a home away from home, and we keep coming back when we visit my son and his girlfriend at Drake. Matt, the general manager, is truly great to work with. We really appreciate the team. What a hidden gem!

We were here for a school trip. The rooms were mostly clean and the hotel was nice, but the hallways were noisy. Breakfast choices were limited, so bringing your own food might be a good idea. The staff were alright. Thank you.
