We’ve stayed three separate times, and it’s been a great fit for our family. The landscaping is lovely, the staff are friendly, and getting to the private beach is easy.
The floors were the one real cleanliness issue in unit 18. Our socks were black after walking around, so don’t go barefoot. Otherwise, it was fairly clean, and I liked the simple decor that didn’t make the room feel crowded. There were five of us and still enough space for all our luggage. I’d been unsure because of some reviews, but once we got inside, it was actually nice. If you have little ones who sleep lightly, keep in mind you can hear the pool right outside, footsteps overhead, and people next door.
We were already talking about when to come back as soon as my family left. Our room was quiet, everyone slept well, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The beach view from the room was everything, and I loved having private beach access right on the sand instead of across the street. The room was clean and spacious, with a king bed, bunk beds, a pull-out sofa, and two bathrooms joined by a shower and laundry room. There was also a full kitchen and dining area, and the in-room laundry service was a plus. I’d definitely recommend this resort.
We booked Unit #37 at the last minute for four nights during Thanksgiving week, since it was the only third-floor unit available. The rate seemed fair when we booked, but the unit is old and worn enough that we wouldn’t stay again or recommend it for a comfortable visit. Its best features are the ocean view and how close it is to the beach, just a few feet away. Henderson State Park is a short walk too. The south side has an unobstructed ocean view; the north side faces the pool. It’s the third unit from the elevator and staircase. Pool noise sounded like it was just outside our bedroom, and the walls between units are thin enough that we heard neighbors talking, coughing, and laughing. We didn’t hear the elevator or stairwell. The unit was generally clean, but the bed skirt was stained, so we took it off. The bathrooms had a faint but noticeable urine smell. The king mattress dips into a big well, and management’s mattress topper didn’t make it comfortable. The couch was just as worn and uncomfortable: its two middle cushions sag inward and tilt you sideways, and the loveseat upholstery is stained. Every kitchen appliance looked and sounded like it was from the 1990s. The primary bathroom toilet seat was stained and chipped, so we used covers. The walls, door trim, and baseboards need fresh paint. Destin Realty Beach Vacation Rentals and Sales manages the condos and has an on-site office. The woman at the front desk was polite and professional. Check-out is at 10 a.m., and the instructions were simple and reasonable. If I’m not mistaken, Destin Realty manages all the short-term condos at Coral Reef Club.
Each condominium unit is individually owned, so they’re all different, but the overall complex is kept to high standards. I love that it’s on the beach, and you can usually find a place when you want one. Check their site.
