Days Inn by Wyndham Destin

My last motel canceled, and this place helped me out. The staff were super friendly, the lobby was clean, and the fish pond was cool. The floor in my room was a little dirty, but you get what you pay for. If you just need beds and a shower while on vacation, it works well. The price was unbeatable and the location was good.

I booked a smoking room by accident and didn't notice, even though I'm not a smoker. The room had damage to the walls and lamps, plus a broken bathroom floor tile. Night staff seemed like they didn't care, while the day staff were all friendly and much better. I booked for just one day. The beach was basically across the street, in another hotel's "backyard," and if you ask nicely they might let you walk around to the water. There are also good fast food places nearby.

The bathroom was already in bad shape when we arrived. The toilet flushed slowly, the floor felt gritty, and the room had a musty smell. By morning, dirty water from a leak had flooded the bathroom floor. I was so uncomfortable with the bed that I bought my own sheets and towels. Even the coffee machine was filthy, and the sugar and cream packets were rock hard. Outside, people played loud music late at night while kids ran along the sidewalk. I paid far too much for this stay. When I tried to complain, receptionist John wouldn’t give me his last name. He said he had no boss when I asked to speak with one, and he wouldn’t provide the corporate phone number either. I’m from Montgomery and brought my family for a weekend, and now I don’t know how to get anyone to hear my complaint. I’m angry and upset. This was simply disgusting.

John at the front desk was polite and professional, and the location works well for me since it’s between Waffle House and Chick-fil-A, two of my favorite restaurants. This was my second stay at the Days inn of Destin, and I couldn’t find a thing to complain about. The rooms are clean and stocked with towels, toilet paper, a coffee pot, microwave, and refrigerator. Five stars. I’d stay again.
