The AC was a real relief for me, especially coming from Alaska and dealing with hot flashes at night, and the TV was better than I expected. The room still had the familiar Motel 6 feel, but I was comfortable and felt safe from check-in onward. The desk clerk was welcoming, and when my key quit working he helped me out; the other staff I met were friendly too. Some long-term residents seemed respectful and gave the place a looked-after feel. A couple of small things: the beds are firm, so anyone with back trouble might want a thin topper. Since I had dogs with me, I noticed the pet area needed more attention. Some owners had left messes, and I saw a needle cap there. I usually avoid Motel 6 because of the brand's reputation in some places, but this stay was a pleasant surprise. For this price and type of hotel, the comfort, staff, and sense of safety mattered most.

The staff came across as professional, and I saw employees busy and getting things done each day. Parking on the property requires a permit, which I think is a good idea. My room was clean, with no bugs or webs, and the sheets had no stains. Both the sink and shower had very good hot water. I had a comfortable weekend and would stay at this motel again if I were in the area.

The room was clean and nice, and both ice machines were working. The laundry room was handy too. I only held back a star because the door latch was a struggle to open from outside with the card, though it closed securely and opened easily from inside. One of the beds was great; the other sagged like a hammock.

Aaron at the front office of Motel 6 Destin made a strong impression on me. He was helpful and friendly from the time I arrived, and he made everything feel easy and welcoming. He clearly takes pride in his work and treated guests with real respect and kindness. That kind of service made a lasting difference, and Motel 6 is lucky to have him representing the front office.

The location was convenient, with food nearby and stores not far away, and getting in and out was easy. The room, though, had roaches and flies, and the cabinets had dead roaches in them. Bring cleaning supplies. My husband also got rude treatment at check-in, with his ID literally tossed back at him.
