SUNDESTIN

We liked the location, and the lobby restaurant was delicious with great drinks. But each time we walked past it on the way to the beach, there was a really strong fish smell. The property has been under construction, apparently since 2023, and that was frustrating during our stay. The room and resort need serious updating, and the online photos gave a misleading picture of their condition. Water pressure was so weak it barely worked. There was rust on the refrigerator, and my husband had to fix the sink himself so it would drain. The bedroom had old-feeling, unclean carpet and no ceiling fan or overhead light. They had put in a box fan instead. Temporary see-through blinds let bright hallway light shine into the room all night, so it was hard to tell day from night. The amenities also fell short of what was shown. The splash pad in the photos wasn't open or working, the pool was dirty, and there were no umbrellas for shade. Getting extra towels was a hassle: you had to rent them or pay to wash and dry the ones already provided. Between the dated rooms, maintenance problems, misleading photos, and missing basic amenities, we wouldn't stay again. The location is great, but the resort didn't meet expectations.

We're in room 806, and I'm writing at 2am because the awful smell woke me. The room smells like cat pee. I know it's humid at the beach, but this is unbearable. I've never been so eager to leave the beach and get back to my own bed. We weren't told the resort was under construction, and nearly everything is closed. The room is outdated, even with the 'new furniture' covering it up. The WiFi wouldn't work, so we couldn't watch TV, and we were supposed to have bunk beds but didn't. The front desk staff were rude, and the person we've been communicating with has been rude throughout. It's felt like, 'we took your money, and there's nothing you can do about it.' Don't waste your money here. There are cheaper places, and places at the same price, that are WAY BETTER.

The beach is right there, and our balcony view was nice. We were in a one-bedroom, room 409, for a week at a very good price. It suited our family of three and was clean, though it smelled a little musty. Two toilets were handy, the bed was comfortable, and there was a pullout couch. It had what we needed, but no extras. There's a washer and dryer on the floor, and the onsite restaurant was decent. I'd recommend the mahi mahi tacos. The hallways were dingy and poorly lit, and I didn't like the bedroom window that looked into the hallway. One bathroom sink leaked on day two, but maintenance fixed it quickly. A toilet rocked from side to side, and I couldn't plug the tub to take a bath. The pool area was nice, but the splash pad was down. Front desk staff could have been friendlier. We didn't run into the construction others mentioned. Parking was crowded, but we always found a good spot as people came and went. The elevators are usually quick, but checkout day was a mess: with everyone coming and going at once, it took over 30 minutes to reach the lobby. They need separate elevators for housekeeping. The stay was nice and did what we needed, but the congestion and not-so-warm staff mean I personally wouldn't book here again.

They started grinding metal right outside my room at 830 on 2/4 mornings. I wanted to sleep in a bit on vacation, not all day, but past 830 would've been nice. Construction wasn't mentioned when I booked, and one day there were about 6 trash cans in the lobby catching leaks. The condo was sort of clean. There was a clump of what looked like shaved beard hair in the hallway when you walked in. I'm telling myself it was beard hair. The view was excellent, but it felt like we were sold beautiful rooms and then put in loud, smelly, annoying facilities. I understand construction, but guests should be told about it upfront and honestly. A partial refund would make this right, though I'm not holding my breath. Please make sure the work is finished before booking here. We won't be back.
