Hollywood Casino at Greektown

For our son's 21st birthday, we booked four rooms. The staff was amazing and the rooms were great, but ours felt muggy for some reason, with condensation on the window in January. There was only one working elevator for 30 floors. We were on the 20th and took the stairs, which isn't what you want on vacation. With luggage, though, we had to use the elevator and waited 20 to 30 minutes.

The amenities felt below what I'd expect from this level of hotel, and I wouldn't call it four-star. You can't call down to valet to have them bring your car, which most nicer hotels allow. Check-in was fine, though the staff weren't very friendly. They weren't rude, just seemed uninterested. My sheets were dirty, so I called the front desk. I was told they could send sheets up or I could pick some up because there's no daily housekeeping. I said I obviously wasn't going to do that, and they agreed to send someone to change them.

The casino was decent, and the food court restaurants were okay, but I wouldn't recommend staying at the hotel. The rooms were dirty and hadn't been vacuumed in a while, and the sheets had bad stains. Most elevators were broken, so expect a wait on an upper floor. There's no housekeeping, so if you're there for a couple of nights, you'll have to deal with things yourself.

The location is hard to beat, but I won't stay there again. The first room, when I was there with a friend for a concert, was gross: the toilet seat and shower handle were broken, something sticky covered the remote so it wouldn't work, and there was what looked like an ejaculate stain on the nightstand. I sent photos by email and heard back right away. They offered a free room, though I would have preferred a refund. Months later we reluctantly used it for a Wings game. At check-in we had to wait while someone checked whether the room we'd booked weeks earlier was ready. After getting the keys, we found the cleaning lady still hadn't finished, and the room reeked of smoke. I'd gladly pay more for a positive stay.
