Hotel David Whitney, Autograph Collection

The Library quickly became my favorite place to relax with a drink. It has a cozy, unusual atmosphere. My Corner Room looked out over Comerica Ballpark, and the shower was one of the best I've experienced, with strong pressure and a real spa-like feel. The bed was very comfortable too, so I slept well. The staff made everything easy from arrival, giving me an early check-in and a generous 4 p.m. checkout. As a Marriott elite member, I appreciated that, even without an elite lounge at the property, they gave me extra Marriott Bonvoy points. It was a thoughtful gesture. From the room to the service, the stay was excellent, and I'd happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Detroit.

Our room was huge and lovely, and it made for a great date night. The hotel sits in a beautiful older building, within walking distance of downtown Detriot attractions, nightlife, restaurants, and plenty to do. We didn't have a view, and there are no pools, hot tubs, or saunas, but I'd recommend it if you're after a nice downtown stay close to everything.

The location was perfect for exploring the area, and the room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had an awesome bed. The staff made us feel welcome from the start, and the whole stay at the Hotel David Whitney was amazing. Highly recommend it for a great experience. While you're there, stop by the library bar and see Kevin the bartender to top off your stay!

The hotel's own restaurant was a letdown. We arrived around 10 a.m. on Sunday for brunch without reservations, thinking we'd be fine for a quick meal. The host said they were fully booked for the day and wouldn't seat us, even though there seemed to be only four people in the restaurant. We had to find another brunch spot after spending a good amount to stay at the hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and well maintained, and we had no problems with that part.
