A good spot for fishermen. The rooms are decent, and there’s a fish cleaning shack right on the property.

The location worked well for the two highways I used most, hwy 19 and hwy 20, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby, most just a short drive away. You could walk to some if it wasn’t raining, and KFC is only a few steps away on the same block. After long days fishing, the firm bed suited me fine, though it might not work for everyone. The room had a modern flat screen, fridge, and microwave, but it was scorching hot when I arrived because the heater was set to max. There was also a slightly sour smell. I opened the window, and after a while the room cooled down and the smell cleared. I’ve worked in hospitality before, and I really appreciated the honest, friendly service here. I called about an hour before check-in to ask if an early arrival might be possible, and the front desk clerk said it was fine. We got a warm welcome when we arrived, and the gentleman, whose name I’ve forgotten, made some small talk while checking us in. He went over the house rules, especially about the fish house, and answered my other questions without any trouble. Breakfast had waffles, and coffee was available in the lobby around the clock. It’s not a vacation inn with all the extras, but it was a welcome place to rest after fishing, and I’d recommend it.

The staff were friendly, but breakfast was almost gone by 7:30 and nobody replenished it. The room was okay, though I could feel the springs in the beds. There was no bathroom vent or hair dryer.

I booked for the weekend because the hotel has a fish cleaning station and thought that would make things easier. At check-in, the front desk guy explained the rules and said scaling fish could get us kicked out. He said they don’t let people do that anymore and told us to use the public fish cleaning station instead.
