Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Diamondhead

The room still had food from another guest in the fridge, so I’m not sure what the point of inspecting it was. They also had to check the room before we could leave and get our cash deposit back. We were asked for $50 cash at arrival, and I don’t know what would’ve happened if my friend hadn’t brought cash. The check-in clerk took a while to show up, and the whole visit felt unfriendly. The outside door nearest our room wasn’t locked, and its security bar had been tied shut with a zip tie. With the hotel right by the road, that didn’t feel safe. We got what we paid for, technically.

The front desk guy lives there and was really rude. He said we couldn’t have any guests or visitors, even after we assured him they weren’t staying overnight. We’re getting a refund and won’t try coming back.

The night man was rude when we checked in around midnight, apparently because we woke him up. We’d paid for a king room, but in the morning he told us dogs weren’t allowed. I reminded him that we’d paid, but he was still rude. It was expensive, too. Bad experience, and I won’t stay again. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have pets or need to check in late.

We’d stayed here several times a year for a couple of years when visiting town, and Mr. Mike usually made sure we were comfortable. He’s a great manager. This time he wasn’t there, and the woman in charge had a horrible attitude. The room smelled like mold, but she wouldn’t move us, even though the hotel seemed empty. After I paid for another night, she said housekeeping was coming. That was fine with me. It was 9:30 in the morning, and I had time to go back and make a bottle for my infant son. Once I started feeding him, housekeeping knocked and asked if we needed anything. I asked for towels because he wanted to shower. Then the manager came running down the hall, yelling that I’d been told housekeeping had to come and we had to leave so they could work. If we’d been checking out that day, we still had until 11. There was no reason to come down and yell at us like that. It felt like she was being mean for the sake of it. I wouldn’t stay again.
