The woman at the counter was very sweet, and the room my husband booked through a third party had already been taken, so she gave us a free upgrade, which we appreciated. The building and rooms are dated, though, and there were lots of warning signs: stained sheets, pillowcases and comforter, dozens of stains on the walls, two termites and another bug we couldn’t identify in the bathroom. The air felt muggy and smelled like a mix of thrift store and an old person’s home. I’d be cautious with the AC and crack a window because I doubt they keep up with regular maintenance. This place has clearly seen better days. It might work if you just need a quick, dirt-cheap place to sleep while traveling.

Warm, dry, clean towels, complimentary soap and shampoo, no dust bunnies, and a nice little kitchenette made for a good economical stay. The friendly woman at the desk was a great welcome, and I’d recommend it and stay again. You can tell this is oil country, though. Things happen in a roughneck environment, and I hope they repair the walls someday. I’d give it 3.5 out of 5.

The full kitchenette and heat were good, and they let me bring my dogs, so I feel bad complaining. But for $90, I’d at least expect a clean tub. There was soap and scum left from previous guests in the shower, and black flakes came out onto my feet when water hit the side, like what might be black mold. The fan fixture was open and broken. Things need fixing even at a one-star hotel.

There were stains all over the room and bathroom, including hair and pubic hairs. The walls had holes, the sheets were stained, and the stovetop didn’t work. Staff wouldn’t even replace the towels we needed, and the ones there were covered in hair. The bathtub looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in about a month. No reason to stay here.

I stayed at Extended Stay for nine months straight. These people are awesome, from the owners down, and everyone’s good people. The rooms are clean. Why pay twice the rates when this is right at the gateway to the ND Bakken oil fields? This is where blue-collar folks stay.
