After taxes and fees, I paid about $90 for one night for two adults in a room with two beds. At that price, it should at least have been clean. I booked through Expedia, so I can’t really speak to the service, but the woman at the desk was kind and funny when I checked in. The room was pretty underwhelming, and the cleanliness needs attention. The sheets had dirt and scuff marks and didn’t look changed. I checked under them for bedbugs and didn’t find any, but one mattress was badly stained and looked nasty. There were sticky spots on the floors, the areas under the beds looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the microwave had a film inside. The fridge was clean inside, but not on the outside. I saw one German roach in a trap, possibly brought in by travelers. I didn’t see any other bugs during my stay. The building is outdated and needs basic repairs and maintenance. Caulk, toilet paper holders, cabinets, and dressers were either broken, very old, or worn out. The outlets by the beds were badly rusted and looked about 100 years old, which was concerning. These are small things that could make the room more comfortable, even for the price. I hadn’t known the area was considered high crime. I was traveling and chose somewhere right off the interstate, figuring most places by the interstate might be dangerous. I ate at a local restaurant without problems. The night was quiet, though I don’t know if it usually is.

We made a reservation but left without staying the night because the room was so dirty, and the door wouldn’t close properly. I waited about 15 minutes at the front desk for the woman working there to come out from the back, on her phone. I asked for a refund, but the manager refused, saying more than 30 minutes had passed. We’d been in the room for no more than 10 minutes.

We felt exposed to violence and left as soon as we could. In the middle of the night, people were yelling and fighting, so we got scared and pushed the sofa against the door. After that couple left, two women started fighting in the street and banging on doors, then two other couples got involved. We wanted to ask them to stop, but were too afraid because the women were throwing things. We stopped at a nearby store, where people told us shootings usually happen. I guess we were lucky. The hotel is in an area with a lot of crime. The service was horrible. The front desk woman spent a lot of time in the bathroom smoking instead of helping. We had booked through Priceline, but she wouldn’t accept the reservation and charged our credit card again. She gave us five rooms in all because the first four were dirty, as if someone had stayed in them, with bedding on the floor, glasses with soda still there, and smoke everywhere. We walked around checking rooms and finally found one. The bed was made, but the sheets were stained.

At Days Inn, Ms. Yoshi made me feel at home and welcome, like family. Her service was above and beyond. She was always available when I needed her, never complained, and was consistently caring and professional. There were some minor issues with the room, but her service shone through them.

The heating barely worked, and we had to reset the outlet ourselves just to get any warmth. There were holes in the walls and exposed wires where an old thermostat seemed to have been, which made the room feel unsafe. The bedding looked moldy, the pillows were worse, and the stained towels and dingy whites made it hard to believe cleanliness mattered here. Broken fixtures and the general state of the room made it feel long neglected. The shower was stained, and the curtains had what looked like vomit on them. When we asked for fresh linens, staff brushed us off and said this was standard, so we shouldn't expect better. Then housekeeping knocked at 9:45 in the morning and woke us, even though checkout wasn't until 11. We've traveled a lot, and this was the worst hotel stay we've had. We only stayed because the reservation couldn't be refunded. We won't come back, and we'd tell anyone considering The Days Inn to choose somewhere else.
