The North lodge had everything our group of 11 needed to be comfortable, and the owner was great to work with. It was easy to reach from Denver, where our family had flown in from all over the country. The mountain views stretch all around. We started mornings with coffee on the front porch and ended evenings with drinks on the side or back porches, watching the sunset. There was a lot to do. Some of us rented kayaks for the lake while others took the kids on a scenic downhill bike ride from Vail pass through Copper back to Frisco. The bikes were well worth it, and the rock patio along the route has a cool story. We also went rafting on the Blue, mostly class 3 at the time and just right for the kids, and hiked a trail only a three minute drive from the lodge. The kids loved it. We spent other days exploring old mining areas and off road trails, then relaxed in the hot tub and grilled on the back deck. We ate in Breckenridge and tried Silverthorne spots including White Lion for breakfast and Windy City Pizza and Nick n’ Willy’s for pizza. There are lots of restaurants in Frisco, Breckenridge, and Sivlerthorne, all close together, plus outdoor companies for mountain biking, zip lining, rafting with AVA, and off road trips. We also walked around Breckenridge and its river walks while some of our group shopped. The kids were so busy exploring that their electronics barely got used. It was a great family week, though there wasn’t enough time for everything in the area. We plan to return.
