Rodeway Inn Dillsburg

I needed an inexpensive place to sleep for a night and was worn out. It was about $100 for a one-bedroom, and service was quick. I didn't spot any bugs. The bed was stiff, but the sheets were warm and comfortable. The door peephole in room 130 was missing, though thankfully there was paper to cover the opening. Not that I expected anyone to come knocking, lol. I'd stay here again.

I liked being able to park right beside my room, and there was plenty of ice. The room itself was cramped and dirty. I walked around barefoot and my feet were black within five minutes. The tub was dirty too, and there were no tissues or paper towels. I also wish there'd been a coffee maker. No breakfast was disappointing for the price. The bigger frustration was the microwave. After using it twice, it shorted out and shut off the surge protector, which also turned off the fridge and TV. I called the front desk in the morning, explained the problem clearly, and asked for the faulty microwave to be replaced. They said they would. I unplugged it, then came back that evening to find it plugged in again. I wasn't just saying it wouldn't turn on, and I had already checked the plug. I was reporting that it was shorting out the other devices. Nobody listened, and I ended up without a microwave for my stay.

The young woman at the front desk was very friendly and tried to help by giving us disinfectant spray. We couldn't stay, though. The smoking room smelled overwhelmingly like a filthy ashtray, and the spray didn't fix it. The linens had cigarette burn holes, and the pillowcases were dingy yellow, as were the towels. My husband used to smoke and said the smell was that bad. Even our clothes smelled of smoke after just 15 minutes there. The shower was disgusting too. We booked a king room through the app and, I'll admit, I didn't notice it was a smoking room. The staff said the place was fully booked, so there wasn't another room available. We accepted losing the $96 and booked another hotel near Harrisburg. I can't speak to what a regular room is like, but make sure you don't book a smoking room by mistake. There's a bar and grill next door with good food, though it's a little expensive. There's also another restaurant down the street, some gas stations, and a grocery store not too far away.

The beds are comfortable, and the hot water comes quickly with excellent pressure. For a one-star motel, the rooms are clean and reasonably equipped with WiFi, a large TV, a dorm fridge, and a microwave. There isn't a coffee maker or coffee on site.
