I contacted corporate about this, and anyone looking for more accounts from unhappy guests can check YELP for this Marriot location. The customer service here was awful. John's conduct as manager, including how he treats guests, was unprofessional and unacceptable. I stand by this as a true and accurate review. I also don't believe the positive reviews for this place are genuine. If you arrive and see security at the hotel, I'd cancel your reservation and leave.

The room itself was very clean, as usual, and the location worked perfectly for our plans. The front desk staff were kind, and I know they can only do so much when their options are limited. Still, I left feeling like a less valued guest because someone with Ambassador status got special treatment. Bonvoy policy says late check-out depends on availability, and that was a bad look for the hotel. We had booked months ahead, in early January 2026, for one night in March while in town for an event at The Anthem. My two guests and I arrived with our luggage at 2:30, half an hour before check-in, and were told our room wasn't ready. We were fine waiting in the lobby since we were early. Shortly after 3, an attendant explained that the current guest had asked for a 3:30 late check-out and the room would need another half hour to clean, so ours might be ready around 4. I asked if we could take any other room, any size, but was told none were available. When I asked why a last-minute late check-out was granted despite our long-standing reservation, the attendant said that guest was an ambassador for the chain. We had been driving all day, so we stayed in the lobby. The attendant kindly offered a lower rate, which seemed like standard service recovery. Four o'clock passed without an update. Around 4:15, I went to the desk and found a different employee, who knew nothing about the situation and asked us to wait for the first attendant to return from break. She came back a few minutes later, but a line of check-ins meant we waited another ten minutes. At 4:30 she said our room still wasn't ready, then offered us another room, even though we'd earlier been told there were none. I received the discounted rate and was promised 10,000 points for my Bonvoy card. They haven't appeared yet, though perhaps that takes time. I've been a Marriott Bonvoy member since 2023 and have generally had very good experiences with the chain, which made this especially disappointing.

When the next receptionist came on duty, she told me I could keep the restroom key card until I left. That was different from what the receptionist who was there when I arrived had said. I got there to work at 9pm on May 24, 2026, and asked about the restroom policy because entry required a key card. The first receptionist was rude and said there was just one card, which had to be returned after use.

I called afterward to get this resolved, but nothing was done. The next day I found an extra $250 charge on my account, supposedly for a party and safety reasons. I'd told them at check-in that I had guests coming by for a few hours, and Domonique at the front desk said that was fine as long as they didn't stay overnight. I didn't have a party, though other people did. Kids were smoking weed in the hallways, but apparently that wasn't treated as a safety hazard. Terrible experience.

On my last visit, several things in the room needed fixing, and I found mold in the bathroom. Housekeeping made the bed and restocked the essentials, but didn't really clean. The room finishes and housekeeping seem to have gone downhill over time, which was disappointing because I loved this place on my first stay. I've been here twice. The first visit wasn't crowded, the service was really good, and there was plenty to do nearby. It's also not far from the city, and I loved the location. The employees were the nicest. Breakfast was fair, with the usual continental items, and they kept it stocked through the morning. Parking costs extra, which feels weird given the location. Laundry is fairly expensive too, I think it was $5 per machine. I'd recommend the hotel based on the service and location.
