The room was surprisingly good value, with plenty of space and useful furniture, including a desk, pullout couch, lamp, and comfortable chairs. The room was quiet and fairly clean, the AC and Wi-Fi worked well, and the view was mostly trees. Charlie, the manager, was friendly, easy to reach, and very accommodating. There’s also a friendly cat that lives outside, and the waiting lounge is nice. A few things could use attention: the carpet was a bit dirty, the tub could be whiter, the curtains didn’t fully close, finding the room again was confusing, and the back parking lot needed cleaning. As of October 30, 2024, the hotel is closed by order of Lee County Court until repairs are made. The owner said he can’t afford them.

Every one of the five rooms they showed me had the same problems. Mold covered the bathroom walls and ceiling, the tub had large cracks and missing finish, and the shower kept dripping because the water wouldn’t shut off completely. There were big stains on the carpet, wallpaper peeling away, and ceiling plaster broken and falling down. It felt like a serious health hazard. After checking in, they would not refund me once 15 minutes had passed. This was the most disgusting hotel I’ve stayed in.

We were homeless and had nowhere else to go, so I stayed here for about three weeks. I was worried at first by the reviews mentioning bedbugs and the manager, but Charlie turned out to be a great guy. He’s trustworthy, helpful, and does both the front desk work and cleaning. They put a lot on him, and he does his best. Thanks to Charlie and the owner of the magnusson. The rooms were clean and we didn’t find bedbugs. There was a little mold in the hallways, though they were renovating. It’s an old place, and the location was the main downside. For a hotel costing around $50-60, I felt we got our money’s worth. It won’t be the prettiest place, but I wasn’t expecting a $150 room.

We had three nights booked but left after the first. We were exhausted from traveling, so we stayed that first night, but the place was so dirty we didn’t even shower. The smell was awful, with old cigarette smoke in the halls and chemical odor remover in the rooms. By morning our eyes were burning. There was no refund option. The pictures show how dirty it was. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

We had to stay here for a month before finding a place. There was black mold throughout, wallpaper coming off in the rooms and halls, and blood on my sheets and pillowcases. The owner, Bob, used tape or staples to put wallpaper back up. I took pictures of the rooms on the main level and of the hallway repairs. He said he was far behind on bills. I could go on about the hotel, Bob, and his restaurant, brandywine. I don’t think he should be running a restaurant either. I heard there were bad reviews there, and that the health department made him throw out food that was two years old and pour bleach on it so it couldn’t be retrieved. At an Easter brunch, he served the same food for nearly a month, which isn’t allowed, and the health department told him that too. With the mold and the food, I think people could get sick. This place is a joke.
