Super 8 by Wyndham Dodgeville

Very disappointing. This was already a problem when we stayed last year: the back door gives access to rooms at the far end of the hall, and anyone can get in. The card key machine has been removed, and the door is propped open with a stick. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut all the way. Also, a floor lamp had its shade resting on the LED bulb, with no way to keep the shade from falling off.

The room needed dusting, and the furniture was quite dusty. The bathroom floor felt sticky, and I didn’t feel safe. It looked like someone was living in a van in the parking lot, and the back entrance across from the van was unlocked.

You can spend time exploring the Wisconsin hills and enjoying the scenery, with plenty of family activities nearby. There’s horseback riding and camping, plus historic Indian mounds and other fun things to do. It’s a great location for a stay while you check them out.

The room was clean when we arrived, but it wasn’t kept that way afterward. There was no shampoo or soap for the shower, and cigarette smoke lingered in the hallways and by the front door, despite the non-smoking room and the sign saying the whole building was non-smoking. The front clerk and maintenance person didn’t help with that. Breakfast was about the most minimal bar I’ve seen. The location was convenient for where I needed to be for two nights.
