Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Miami Airport West/Doral

We were able to check in early, which was a nice perk. The rooms were spacious and clean, with big comfortable beds, though the pillows were thin and flat. There were lots of TV options, and breakfast had plenty to choose from. The food was fresh and delicious, but the breakfast area was very crowded. The trouble came with the airport shuttle: they said there was one at 9:00, but there wasn't, and the 9:30 shuttle was full. There were a few small issues, but we still had a good stay.

We've watched the other hotel shuttles come through three or four times, while this place seems to have just one driver and takes nearly an hour to get here, even though it's only three miles from the airport. I called at 8:45 and it rang about a dozen times before disconnecting. Then I tried at 9, 9:10, 9:20, and 9:25 to find out where our ride was. At 9:25 the woman checked with the driver and said he'd take another 25 minutes. She also told me how long I'd been waiting based on the call she received, as if the earlier call that got disconnected didn't count. Apparently she knows my actions better than I do. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The hotel itself was nice and the breakfast was good, but avoid a ground floor room because the piped music in the hallway starts early and ends late. The location was convenient, with lots of restaurants in easy walking distance. We stayed overnight while flying through Miami, and the airport shuttle was appalling. We were there a couple of minutes before the hour, then waited 50 minutes and were told several times it would arrive in a few minutes. We'd happily have taken an Uber if anyone had just been honest. The driver was rude, and since the trunk was already full, we had to haul our bags onto the top ourselves.

The heated pool had no heat at all, and the advertised hot tub isn't there anymore. The whole stay was a letdown. We checked in at noon and asked for extra pillows for my pregnant sister, who medically needed them. By 9 p.m. they still hadn't delivered any. At the desk, we were rudely told they were all gone and it wasn't her problem because she hadn't checked us in. When we asked for a manager, they said to call him, but the number they gave was just the hotel's number and nobody answered. Another guest upset about the airport transportation gave me the manager's card. I emailed him several times over the last two weeks with no response. If Fernando doesn't get back to me by the end of next week, I'll take this higher up at Marriott. That gives him three weeks to reply, which I think is generous. Don't stay here unless you enjoy disappointment.
