Fairfield Inn by Marriott Dothan

I always choose Fairfield when I travel. The breakfast was fresh, and the person keeping an eye on the area kept it clean. Our room was comfortable and clean too, and the staff were very friendly. The hotel sits on a main road near restaurants and shops, and that complimentary breakfast was a blessing.

Breakfast was good, one of the few bright spots. The hotel seemed okay at first, but the room was a letdown: a strong musty smell, dirty bathroom floor, a rusty sink with visible mold, and a shower that didn't work right. The water kept swinging from extremely hot to freezing, so showering was hard. I brought the problems to the front desk, but the staff member was rude and dismissive and made no effort to address them. The room conditions and poor service made the stay disappointing.

The breakfast was pretty underwhelming, with no plates and just the bare minimum of typical choices. The dining room badly needs renovating, and the faux leather on the chairs was peeling apart. On the plus side, the man who checked us in last night was so helpful and personable, and even told us about a really nice dog park nearby. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything was nicely appointed.

The place smelled awful, and people in the room next door and across the hall both left soon after checking in because of the stink. We were told there were no refunds, so despite the dirty floors, stained towels, and smelly rooms, we had to stay the night. Breakfast was sparse and cold. This was hands down the worst hotel I've stayed in. Do yourself a favor and sleep in your car.
