Extended Stay Douglas

The property manager was very helpful and apologetic, and she did her job 100%. Still, the room had several problems. There was no Wi-Fi in room 123 despite it being advertised, and the actual room looked nothing like the pictures. There was no heater at first, though the front desk gave me a small electric one. I woke up to daylight coming through gaps by both the door and the A/C unit, with a breeze coming in all night. There was no smoke detector, and I notified the fire marshal. I also ran out of hot water halfway through a four-minute shower. I know you’re remodeling, but if the place isn’t up to code, it shouldn’t be open. I’m not sure what one person is supposed to do with all of that.

My family was supposed to stay here in February, but the room we booked was double-booked. I was seven months pregnant, and we had to pay extra for a last-minute hotel. The manager was kind and promised a refund, but four months and several calls later, it still hadn’t arrived. I kept being told it would post in a few days. After I reviewed the experience, the owner replied that the money had been refunded, but that wasn’t true. I called and was given a “digital card” for the refund and asked to delete my review, which I did. When I tried the card, it was declined. I called the next day and was told I’d get a call back last Friday. I’m still waiting for the call and the refund, more than a month after telling them the card didn’t work. The owner later asked me to delete my review because the issue was supposedly resolved, but it hasn’t been. I’m tired of asking the business to make this right.

Amanda really held the place together, and it’s the owners’ loss that she’s no longer there. She was excellent and helpful after I arrived having had a bad day. The only issue was the TV, and Amanda came and fixed it, just as she said she would. The bed was comfortable and I fell asleep right away. It was my first night, and I’d recommend this hotel if Amanda is there. I wouldn’t go back without her.

Amanda, this is about you. You’ve turned the place around and done things we didn’t think were possible. You made our stay feel like home, and you should be proud. Your husband is lucky, and he’s done a fantastic job on the rooms and filling in when you need him. You two are a perfect team. Keep it up, sweetheart.
