Jameson Inn Douglas

We came for a long weekend to see family and would book here again. The ground-floor room faced a gas station, but thick hedges separated it from the property, and it was quiet. We never heard the neighbors above or beside us. Breakfast was free, with milk, cereal, and fruit. Nothing hot, but enough for a snack. A Diner and a Mexican restaurant two buildings away were both delicious.

For the price, the room was a great deal. Staff were really friendly and helpful, it was cleaned every day, and getting around Douglas was easy.

My cousin managed to book two rooms at this same hotel with no trouble, so the explanation that construction forced my parents’ cancellation doesn’t add up to me. He paid much more for the exact same room. I suspect they canceled our booking to raise the price for the holiday, though they wouldn’t admit that. I’ve included pictures. I’d booked and paid for my mom and dad’s room a month and a half ahead of our family reunion in Douglas, GA, which was over the July 4th weekend. At 10 a.m. on July 3, I got a reminder confirming their stay. At midnight, another email arrived saying the reservation had been canceled. When I called, I was told the hotel was doing construction. That last-minute disruption made me furious, and I had to find them another place during a holiday weekend, when prices were astronomical. If construction really was happening, why could my cousin book two rooms? Unless there was an emergency repair, construction should be scheduled well in advance. A major business should plan for it and not let customers book during that time. This was bad for business. I won’t support this hotel or any sister companies associated with it.

The front desk staff were great, and the bed was new. My room was just right for a few days of lodging on a budget, and the rate was perfect. I’d give the place 7.5 out of 10. It could use a few mostly cosmetic upgrades and a thorough cleaning. I was in a smoking room, but got the heavy smoke smell out. A little Lysol helped. The comforter had some small old stains, so I took it off the bed. I had a steamer to freshen the bedding.
