Comfort Inn & Suites Dover near Speedway

This is my second stay, and the front desk staff have always been friendly and helpful. The rooms I've had were clean, and having a hot breakfast in the morning is a real plus. I do wish full-service cleaning didn't have to be requested, though I know many hotels do that now. The front desk's “Staff Only” area is visible to customers and looked dirty. I'd suggest having housekeeping or someone clean it, since guests can see it.

Megan at the front desk was a gem. She was professional, helpful, courteous, and always smiling, even with a line out the door. She was working alone during check-in, which seemed odd when the overnight and day shifts each appeared to have two employees. She handled it well, but it was a lot for one person. Please keep her and give her a raise. She was doing the work of about three people. We were visiting for a wedding. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean, but the room felt dated and the carpet was dingy and dirty. We smelled very strong marijuana in the hallway. We also heard the “breathing” noise another guest had mentioned, and it took some getting used to. The shampoo was completely empty, so housekeeping seems to have missed that, though the housekeepers were kind, professional, and courteous. Things happen, and it wasn't a huge deal. The windows don't open for fresh air, which wasn't great. The rooms need an upgrade or at least a refresh. All in all, it wasn't a terrible stay.

The furniture feels dated, and the room could use a new interior. My showerhead shook and made a lot of noise, while the pipes whistled. At check-in, the front desk attendant had stepped away, so I waited 30 to 40 minutes for her to come back and check in just one person. The lobby wasn't crowded.

I liked everything about the place except the welcome. I checked in at 8:30 pm on 8/18/2025, and the man at the desk was rude and snippy. He made a point of telling me there was a $150 security deposit, then said I should have known because I booked through a third-party company. I’d called three times ahead of my visit, so someone could have mentioned it then. Better guest service would make a difference to the rating.
