I stayed here for two months without trouble until the last week. It's an older hotel, so not everything is perfect, but it's advertised as one of the more affordable options nearby. The hallways always smelled like weed, and a homeless person would come sit on the third-floor hallway at night. No one seemed to notice, since the front desk was unattended half the time. Breakfast depended on how many people were checked in: some days there was food, some days not. What they did have was microwaved sausage and eggs, plus packaged bagels, bread, or cereal. I booked through Choice Privileges because the rate was cheaper and paid in full at check-in. In my last week, they charged my card again, saying I hadn't paid. I showed them the $458 charge that matched my reservation receipt, but they kept insisting I owed money. I called Choice, and the rude front desk man wouldn't listen to them either. I left and never returned. Two weeks later, another $319 came out of my bank account. They charge what they want, apparently. Never again.

Cannabis smoke drifted through the hotel, even though it's supposed to be non-smoking. I'm allergic to smoke, and the manager wouldn't stop people smoking pot in their rooms. The room booklet said no pets were allowed on the property, but a dog was barking. Only after I'd been assigned a first-floor room did the manager tell me pets were allowed on that floor. There were no signs saying pets were permitted. Absolutely intolerable.

The front desk was polite when they moved us to another room, since the first one smelled so strongly of cigarettes. But this hotel is filthy. In the new room, the water came out a dark, nasty yellow when I tried to wash my toddlers' hands before they ate. The sheets and curtains were dirty, the floor hadn't been mopped, and none of the lights worked. A random man walked right into my room. When I asked why, he acted like he couldn't understand me and left. I'm here with my two toddlers and won't have them bathe or brush their teeth in that yellow water. Don't book here.

I've been a Diamond member and stayed here on and off for several years, but after the August 26, 2025 stay, I don't plan to return. The hotel has declined quickly, and recent staff changes have made me question whether it's safe for women traveling alone. In room 214, less than 30 minutes after I settled in, a fairly new male employee named Jay called the room phone and asked if I was expecting anyone. I said no. He replied, “okay I am coming up then,” without explaining why. I opened the door, but there was nobody in or near the hall who seemed suspicious. Around 3:30 to 4:00 PM, I never saw Jay near my room. What were his intentions? I've never had a male front desk employee call me right after check-in with comments like that, and he never explained them, even at checkout the next morning. On a previous summer stay, I asked Jay about a second-floor room and he said there was no availability; when I asked about the third floor, he said the general manager only allowed use of the first and second floors. Later that evening, I saw lights on in many third-floor rooms. I think Jay is an issue of all sorts. Another new male desk employee on the evening shift also seemed not to understand his job or the need to watch the cameras. Before dark I saw him outside the building several times, and around 9:30 PM he left the desk and property he was meant to monitor to go next door to Tom businesses to buy food. Who was watching the hotel and its cameras? Apparently no one, which should concern every guest. Breakfast has also become slim pickings: a few cereal boxes, no fresh fruit, and a few yogurts, unlike what the previous front desk staff provided. A used coffee cup and spoon with sugar scattered on the counter were there the evening before and the next morning. Maybe that's why recent reviews mentioned ants in the dining area. Room 214 wasn't clean or comfortable either. The shower curtain smelled strongly of mold and mildew, the bathroom exhaust fan didn't work, the bed and bedding smelled like a wet-haired dirty dog, and the HVAC/AC rattled too loudly to use. The hotel is very old and worn and badly needs room updates, though I don't see that happening. The experience was much more comfortable in previous years. There are still staff members who work hard to make it pleasant, but with the current front desk staff, I'd question the property's safety. I would tell women traveling alone not to stay here.
