MHO Hotel Dover

We lasted about 20 minutes in room 144 before asking for our money back. The heater only blew cold air, even after the guy unplugged it, plugged it in again, and tried the buttons. He offered another room and said he’d return, but he never did. At the front desk, he wasn’t even trying to move us, just repeated that he could. I said I wanted a refund. He said he probably couldn’t refund the room rate, only the deposit. I didn’t care about the room price, I just wanted my $100 back. The room was filthy. Drawers wouldn’t close and had no bottoms, the fridge looked as if it had never been cleaned, and the floor looked like it had never been swept or mopped. The alarm clock was on the floor, and the door had a huge gap underneath letting air in. It was so hard to open I could barely get inside, and it was -4° outside. The TV worked, but there was no remote and it wasn’t connected to the internet. The bed was stained, and I didn’t even want to sit on it. The guy at the front desk was very kind and tried to accommodate us, but I just couldn’t stay. If you have another option, I’d go somewhere else.

I booked a room for the weekend and absolutely loved it. Everything was very clean and comfy, and the housekeepers made sure we had everything we needed and more. I’m from out of town, but I’ll definitely be back. Keep up the good work!

The room smelled like vanilla when I walked in, and I slept really well. The new management seems to have gotten the place where it needs to be. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, especially Harriett at the morning desk. Thanks to MHO for such a comfortable stay. I’ll definitely be back.

I was in the area on an emergency visit, so the low price worked for me. The bed was comfortable, the surroundings were great, with lots of places to eat and a liquor store on the property. They also offer continental breakfast, though there were no ice buckets. The room floors badly need renovating. You can tell they mop them, but they leave them to air-dry, and that can damage the untreated wood under the cheap flooring. I switched rooms the next day. The floor was better, but that bed squeaked like crazy.
