American Inn

The staff were great, and our room had a nice bathroom. We brought our own towels and a blanket, which is what I’d suggest doing too. Besides that, it’s a great spot.

The bed and bedding were awful, and I got bitten by mosquitoes and sand flies in the room. Three weeks later, I’m still itching. If you don’t know about sand flies, or no-see-ums, FAFO. I’d hoped to get work done during my week here, but the Wi-Fi didn’t work. That sucked.

I had to cancel a trip I’d booked through a third party. I was okay with taking the loss, but tried to find out if a refund or credit was possible. The booking company told me to call the property directly. When I asked the clerk for the manager, they just hung up. The next day, I was told the manager was out of the country, while the third party was told he was out to lunch. I tried once more, and the clerk mumbled something and hung up again. Terrible customer service.

At checkout, the guy asked if everything was okay and had a smile. The woman who checked us in, though, spoke so quietly I could barely hear her and didn’t greet us with a smile. The bedsheets and pillows had little stains, and there were dirt crumbs on the bed 😭
