The peaceful views made this weekend a real treat, and we liked having the appliances and utensils in the cabin. There was a booking mix-up, but they helped me fix it right away, so thank you for taking the time. I also appreciate how well the cabins and the people who care for them have held up after the floods and fires. The Wi-Fi and service weren’t the best, though we enjoyed being unplugged for a while. We had a great stay and WILL be back.

Cabin 17 had a whole back wall of windows facing the Big Thompson River, so dinner at the table came with a river view. Many of the other cabins have decks by or above the water too. It’s a friendly, accommodating, family-run place that’s been owned by the same family for over 40 years. I also value that pets aren’t allowed, since we both have allergies. The cabins reminded me of Tiny Town Cabins in Estes Park, but to me Loveland Heights has a much better location, just outside Estes Park.

If you’re after a charming mountain cottage, this is a lovely spot. We had four adults and two kids in Cabin 16 for the weekend, cooked our meals in the clean kitchen, and ate out on the patio. The kids loved it, and Cindy/Beverly were very kind and made sure we were comfortable. It felt like good value, and we’ll keep it in mind for another visit. The place has been here for decades, so expect a classic rustic mountain feel, a septic system, patchy internet, and the natural surroundings, including bugs, birds, elk, and other wildlife. It’s a quiet place to disconnect. If you’re looking for a luxury resort, there are other options in town.

We spotted elk, ducks, geese, a woodpecker, hummingbirds, chipmunks, trout, and a crow from the porch over the river. That porch and the wildlife made some of our best memories. Downtown Estes is a short drive through the canyon, and I’d highly recommend the place for a family vacation.

We had a big family group, and LHC worked really well as a home base. The owners were generous and genuine, gave us a quick rundown when we arrived, and were easy to reach when we needed help. They clearly work hard to look after the property. The cabins feel like grandma’s old lake cabin, with vintage decor, plenty of towels and bedding, kitchen supplies, and lovely views. Ours was clean and spacious enough for us. We left the windows open in June 2025 and had the river sounds and a cool breeze all day and night. The decks right over the water were a favorite, and my sons caught fish as soon as we arrived, all catch and release. The setting is lush and quiet, with paths between the close-knit cottages and access to the river. From the bedroom window, you can watch the water and drift off to its sound. Estes Park is about a 6 minute drive away, and the river road also takes you toward Estes and RNMP, both within 30 minutes. The road nearby is fast and winding, though the yards are deep, so it probably won’t be an issue if you don’t have children. This was my first stay in Colorado, so I can’t compare it with other places in the state, but for the price, location, and experience, it was just right for our crew. It’s rustic and retro, not luxury, and the pictures make that clear.
