The property gives you plenty to work with for photos, from the stone buildings and vineyard views to open Hill Country scenery and soft sunset light. We photographed a wedding at The Vineyard at Camp Lucy recently, and the whole place felt thoughtfully laid out, with lovely light at both the ceremony and reception areas. The setting made it easy to capture natural, emotional moments without making anything feel staged. The day ran smoothly thanks to an organized, welcoming staff. The couple could enjoy themselves instead of worrying about timing and logistics, which helps everyone working the event. I also liked how the venue could feel elegant or relaxed depending on what was happening. We’d be happy to photograph there again. Camp Lucy has a lot of Hill Country charm and a polished feel.

We woke up on the wedding day with a fever of 101 and a positive flu test, so we called because we didn’t want to pass it around at the wedding or resort. We’d booked the stay for the wedding and hoped to work something out, even rescheduling or losing half the room cost since it was last minute. They stuck to their 14 day cancellation policy and wouldn’t refund us, and weren’t willing to discuss any other option. I can’t recommend this place.

We had a filling dinner at Tillie's, and the property itself is beautiful, but a bunch of smaller problems left the stay feeling pretty average. Our $11 order included three focaccia slices, and we left one to go with our leftovers. The staff packed up our plates but left the bread behind. My 30 minute facial also ran only 20 minutes, and the front desk woman seemed unhelpful and unenthusiastic. The bigger issue was the mosquitoes in our Folly Suite. I spotted a few on the bathroom wallpaper, but they blended in and I didn’t realize how many there were. That night they kept buzzing around and biting us, so neither my husband nor I could sleep. We mentioned it at checkout and were told management would get back to us, but nobody has. We were there Sunday night for our birthdays. I hope it was just an off day.

The noise made this expensive one night stay a bad experience. I could hear footsteps, voices, and bumps from the adjoining unit all night, and the room didn’t feel private or soundproof. Its deck and living area looked straight into our room from just a few yards away. When I peeked out, people waved at me. The desk said it had been offered as semi-private, which I found hard to understand. I texted about the noise more than once after getting their welcome message. The replies apologized and said staff would be alerted, but nothing changed and I later realized I’d been messaging an automated bot. No employee got in touch during our short stay, and I couldn’t rest. I was at Camp Lucy for the first time, celebrating my niece’s birthday with her children. I’d booked two pricey rooms, more than I’d paid for suites at The Four Seasons and The Metropole Hotel, so I expected something special. At check-in I was told the rooms weren’t together because I hadn’t booked directly. The rooms looked nice, but didn’t feel luxurious: no bathtub, few amenities, and no breakfast. There were at least two weddings happening, service was slow with limited staff, and management did nothing to help us enjoy the stay.

Gloria and the whole crew made my wife's birthday weekend feel special. Chef Dave Trosko even came out to sing happy birthday in Italian. Thanks for everything you did.
