Holiday Inn Express & Suites-Dripping Springs - Austin Area by IHG

I’ve stayed at a lot of Holiday Inn Express hotels for work, and this one is my favorite. The location is lovely, with Dripping Springs close to Austin and plenty of great restaurants around. The staff are pleasant. Jonni is usually at the front desk when I get back from work, always smiling and checking if I need anything. When I do, they’ve taken care of it. Breakfast is good, and the coffee is fresh ground. I like the oatmeal toppings, and the fruit looks fresh. I’ll definitely be back.

The lobby coffee was the best part for me: free Costa coffee, freshly ground and brewed by the machine in the breakfast area. The location also earned high marks, with restaurants, HEB, a gas station, and an emergency medical center all within walking distance. Some nature preserves and breweries in Dripping Springs are a 20 to 30 minute drive away. We booked a queen suite for one night, prepaid $161 plus taxes. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff helpful. You can see signs that an old motel was renovated into a Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast was limited. I’d expected boiled eggs, potatoes such as hash or wedges, and some kind of sausage, but they served none of those. There were scrambled eggs and stiff kolaches.

The pool was closed for the season, which was a disappointment. We were also assigned a hearing impaired room, and it was interesting to see what those rooms include. Unfortunately, the walls seemed very thin, though that may be true throughout the hotel. I could hear my neighbors talking. The place was very clean, the staff extremely friendly, and the coffee was hot.

Our room was spacious and quiet, and the hotel was clean and pleasant during our September visit. The pool had a leak, possibly from a nearby pond, and the water had turned green, so we couldn’t use it.
