Hampton Inn DuBois

The location was a drawback: the partly closed “mall” is next door, and railroad tracks run right beside the hotel. Inside, the bathroom needed attention. The toilet kept cycling every 20 minutes because of a leak, and there were rust stains and mold spots in the tub. Breakfast was disappointing too, with rubbery eggs and chairs where much of the surface had flaked off. We arrived at 3:00 p.m., the check-in time, but the room I’d booked away from the elevator wasn’t available. The front desk staff were polite and seemed short-staffed. One person had to leave the desk for several minutes to check a room while guests waited. We were eventually put right beside the elevator, the opposite of what I’d reserved. This Hampton feels worn and below Hilton standards. The staff did what they could with limited coverage, but the property needs updating to keep carrying the Hilton name.

We were just passing through for a one-night business stay, and we’d come back. There were lots of groups hanging out inside, which made it a pretty interesting place. Our room was nice, though the non-smoking room smelled a bit like marijuana and our neighbors were rowdy. Breakfast was good, but they shut it down right at 9:00.

Breakfast was good and the area was kept in good shape. The room was clean, and we had no problems during our overnight stay. We didn’t really talk with anyone, so I can’t say much about the service.

Breakfast had a really nice variety, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was peaceful and quiet. I also liked that clean smell when we first arrived. It was a fabulous stay, and I’d stay again if I’m in the area.
