The Trail's End

I hardly spent time in the room because the deck by the Wind River was such a nice place to sit, read, talk, or watch the water go by. The staff were wonderful, and the motel itself is an older, basic place. My room was cozy and clean, with a surprisingly wide selection of soaps, lotions, shampoos, and other toiletries. It was a bit dark inside, though.

It's right on the river, so keep an eye on the kids, but that setting is part of why it feels so cozy. The beds are really comfortable, the place is always clean, and the people are very nice. It's newly renovated and my favorite place to stay around here. No breakfast, but that's fine for the fair price and great room. Restaurants, a Family Dollar, and a grocery store are all close enough to walk to, about .2 or less, or just across the street.

We got a room connected to the deck above the river after Sooraj talked us into splurging, and as birders we loved the variety of species we could watch from there. Sooraj was a fantastic host, and the location is hard to beat. We're already thinking about coming back to explore more of this charming town. Also, the Museum of Military Vehicles deserves a big shoutout. It's a must visit even if the subject doesn't usually interest you.

In April 2026 the place was quiet, dry, and beautiful, with plenty of fun things around. The river trail was great for walking the dogs, and the two little decks over the water made for lovely stargazing. The hosts were amazingly friendly. The solid wood cabins exceeded what I expected by a lot. With a grocery store across the road and fridges in the rooms, it's a handy stop if you're trying to eat healthily while traveling. There's also a saloon nearby for a snack or a boozy drink. Probably the best place I've stayed under $150 usd in ages, maybe ever.
