Glenview Motel

I’m here for a month, staying in a room on the street side where I can see cars going by on Rockdale Rd. The room itself is good, but monthly renters get no room service at all. I have to buy toilet paper and shampoo and take out my own garbage. There’s no coffee pot or cups in the room either. The price feels a little high, at $950 for the month. For now, it’s just somewhere to lay my head.

If you're traveling to Dubuque, stay away from this motel. It’s filthy and disgusting. The owner showed me rooms upstairs and said he charges some people extra while giving people he likes cheaper rates. He also has staff knock on the door to say they need to clean while you’re in the room, even in your pajamas. To me, it feels like nosiness when you can clean the room yourself. Honestly, I think the owner may have a hidden camera somewhere, because he always seems to know what you’re doing. Men and women, stay away. This is the Bates Motel.

The second room was a bit better, but still left a lot to be desired. The doors looked like they were coming apart, and brown water stains marked parts of the walls and ceiling. The shower floor was dirty and the curtain had brown slime on it. The window was already open and rotting. Both mattresses were stained and smelled, and the blankets and comforters had holes. We will NEVER come back or recommend this place. The first room we were given smelled strongly of mold and was full of it. It had no towels. The people running the place were hard to understand and seemed barely able to speak English. Locals also told us it was one of the worst motels in Dubuque and often rented rooms by the hour, if you get my meaning.

The bathroom was filthy, with toothpaste stains on the shelf, a nasty shower, and a sink that had been torn off and caulked back on. There was hair all over the bed, and the walls were splattered with who knows what. The blankets and pillows had burn holes and stains. This was the nastiest, dirtiest place I’ve ever encountered. No refunds.
