Days Inn Duluth Lakewalk

We were out of there within ten minutes, even though it meant giving up the couple hundred dollars we’d paid for the weekend. The room felt grimy and unsafe, with stains on the curtains and couch. The security lock came off along with the door trim. The lobby was old and dirty. The check-in staff were friendly and helpful, but somehow added to that dirty feeling.

The ceiling had several spots where water had leaked from the room above, and when I reported it, the front desk guy said he’d LOOK at it. My shower also sprayed water everywhere and flooded the bathroom because the shower head was caked in grime. I told both the cleaning staff and front desk. They asked if I’d put the curtain inside the tub, as if I were a kid who didn’t know how to use a shower. I work in maintenance, and I know neglect and unrepaired problems when I see them. Breakfast was horrible too. This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Check your room if you’re brave enough to stay. Never again for me.

For the money, it was disappointing. The room smelled dirty, there was no maid service during our two-night stay, and the property maintenance was shabby at best. The dining room was dirty as well, and breakfast was lacking.

For the area and the price, it wasn’t too shabby. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and there was hot water. It’s close to UMD, and the very nice staff at the front desk gave us excellent service and an early check-in. The breakfast area was dirty from the night before, and the front area could use a more inviting feel. I’d give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
