Econo Lodge Near Quantico Marine Base

We were moved quickly when the non-smoking room smelled of smoke. After that, it was a cozy stay. The man at the desk was helpful and patient, and the bathroom was roomy. I liked the view from outside the window, and the beds were comfortable. The TV had around 30 channels. Breakfast was good and there was plenty of it.

It’s not the nicest place in the area, and I personally prefer the Motel 6 down the street. The hallways are a bit dingy, though that’s easy enough to overlook, and the rooms seem clean enough. The whole hotel smells like weed, which is its best feature.

The room seemed clean and well maintained, with a marble table top and a marble bathroom vanity. It was small, but I didn’t mind. Among five nearby hotels, it was the cheapest: motel 6, sleep Inn, super 8, holiday Inn, and comfort inn. Check-in was immediate. There was coffee in the lobby, breakfast from 6-9am, and checkout at 11am. The offer was a $50 gift card after two stays. The room had a refrigerator with freezer, microwave, hair dryer, bathroom heat lamp, and a new air conditioner and heater. No pets. Water pressure was good and hot water came fast. The room smelled a little musty. In the middle of the night, I turned on the heater, smelled something burning, and the fire alarm went off. I turned it off and called the front desk to say there was no fire, but nobody answered. Then I found a brown bug on my pillow and felt something crawling on my face in the dark. I pulled it off and put it in the sink. It looked like a small yellowish spider. I may have been bitten around ten times in bed and got itchy welts on about ten percent of my body. One finger was swollen where I saw what looked like a bite. I was too tired to ask for a room change, and spent the whole night scratching.

A winter storm had knocked out power across the area, and I arrived freezing and exhausted after being stuck on 95 for six hours. Another hotel had booked this room for me. The man at the desk gave me a room for the night, which was much better than sleeping in my car and risking running out of fuel. He showed the same kindness to several other travelers stranded on the highway. Sir, thank you for your empathy and compassion.
