Dakota at the front desk gave me one of the friendliest welcomes I’ve had in a while. He could work at a pricier hotel, and I was glad he was here that night. Moose, our boxer, has traveled all over North America with us in our truck and RV, but this was his first hotel. He loved Dakota, even though he was beaten by a man as a puppy and doesn’t take well to many unfamiliar men. There was no charge for one pet, something my usual more expensive hotels don’t do. This isn’t the Hilton, Marriott, or IHG, and there’s no hot breakfast, but for the PRICE it’s a great, simple place to stop. We don’t eat the sugary, processed bars at cheaper hotels anyway. My rating is for the value, cleanliness, and service. Most of our regular, pricier hotels have polite staff and more amenities.

We needed somewhere to stay after our power had been out for more than 24 hours and overnight temperatures fell below zero. The stay was pleasant: friendly front desk staff, a clean room, and a warm welcome for our pets. The price was reasonable too.

The toilet didn’t work, the shower wouldn’t turn on, and the jacuzzi tub had a brown film over it, as the attached picture shows. It was disgusting. I’d reserved a superior king room for a meeting in Charleston and had told the hotel I’d arrive an hour before checkout so they’d have notice. When I reported the problems, the front desk said they’d put in a work order and someone would fix them, but nobody did. I should have been moved to another superior room. If I pay for that room, I expect the amenities to work. A toilet and shower are nonnegotiable in a motel. My meeting was more than a month ago, and I’m still waiting for the manager to respond. I also have a video of the room, though I could only post screenshots from it.

Dakota at the front desk was the real MVP. He was laid-back, made everything easy, and gave me the best service I’ve had in a while. The Red Roof Inn was great too, and I’ll definitely be back! Would you like me to find the contact info for this specific location so you can post the review?

The tub, bathroom floor, and shower were clean, and the mirrors and windows were spotless. The room itself, though, didn’t seem to have had a thorough cleaning in a while. There were dried chunks of something on the desk, the bedspread was dirty even though the sheets were clean, and the floor hadn’t been mopped. Dirt was stuck in several spots, and there was even fried rice left from someone’s meal. It was frustrating, since ten minutes of proper cleaning could have made a big difference. The shower curtain was dirty too, although its liner was clean. There was also food stuck to the housekeeper’s tip envelope, labeled “Kayla,” on the dresser. The hotel has great potential, and the décor was very nice.
