The rates are competitive for this area, and we’ve stayed here several times. We’ll likely come back since we visit family nearby, but I wouldn’t choose it as a vacation destination. We mainly need somewhere to sleep and shower, so service usually isn’t a factor for us. Our room could use some updating, though we had a lovely view of Caladesi Island and a great sunset from the balcony. The bar downstairs closes at a reasonable time, but its crowd made the room noisy in the afternoon and early evening. The bed was uncomfortable. They promptly ordered a new “bamboo topper” and said they’d replace the mattress if needed.

The staff were a real bright spot. Everyone was welcoming and kind, and some even remembered our names. Our housekeeper, Rado, kept us supplied with clean towels and toiletries and helped keep the room tidy by taking out trash and used towels. We also had an incredible view, and the bar downstairs was a nice addition. The rooms were a different story. In room 317, the musty, moldy smell was unbearable. The shower drain backed up until water filled the shower, then leaked across the bathroom floor. Emergency maintenance never came, though the front desk helped move us to room 320. That room was better, but still smelled musty and had mold in the shower. Cleaning was only so-so: we saw a few cockroaches, plus crumbs under the table and bed. Management offered just 5% off one night for the inconvenience and health concern. Beso Del Sol has a lot to offer, but we’ll probably stay elsewhere next time. The condition of the room feels like a roll of the dice.

Such a cool little getaway on the edge of Dunedin, just down the road from Tarpon Springs. You can hang out in your room or around the property, grab food at the tiki bar, stroll into Dunedin, rent an electric bike, ride the Pinellas Trail, or spend a day at honeymoon Island. Just excellent.

The location makes it easy to get around: downtown shops, restaurants, and the rails to trails pathway are all a short walk away, and Honeymoon Key state park is about a five minute drive. The rooms are a nice size, and the pool and spa area were very clean. There’s also a great view from the pool deck.

I keep coming back to Beso Del Sol Resort, usually twice a year, around March-April for spring break and again in August-September. The staff are nice and accommodating, often going out of their way for guests. Pay attention to the check-in and check-out times since they’re quite different from other places. My favorite rooms are the ones with a waterfront view. The resort-side pool and hot tub are great, and the sunsets are amazing. Marker 8 tiki bar is a fun addition, with a +21 pool. Manager Tim is always enjoying the free sunset shot, and Mike has always served drinks well. Most of the staff seem to change from year to year. The food is good, including tacos, fries, and chicken tenders. Marker 8 usually has some live entertainment, though it closes early. It’s also a good place to watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it’s close to MLB spring training for the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays. I really like the laid-back vibe here.
