We had a perfect little apartment for our four days with our baby and dog. The privacy was nice, everything was well maintained, and it felt much better than a hotel. We’d visit again. My only complaint was the bathroom when we checked in. It wasn’t too dirty, but there were a few long hairs on the tub and towels. I cleaned the whole bathroom so I’d feel comfortable.
Comfortable, clean, and really close to Honeymoon Island beach.
Coconut Villas was our favorite place so far. Under the new management, they’ve made lots of upgrades, and it was just right for unwinding and enjoying the beautiful views. Coconut Dave was wonderful, quick to respond to requests and always trying to make us happy.
We moved here for the beautiful view and heated pool, but Property manager Janet Tinga had the maintenance person shut the pool off. The management is terrible, and what they tell you when you sign a long-term lease doesn’t turn out to be true. If something needs fixing in your unit, you may as well do it yourself.
The apartment was clean and nicely decorated, though apart from the new flatscreen TVs it looked much like it did under the previous owners. Standard was good, the views were great, there were some toilet supplies, and the TV and cable options had been updated. I still like Coconut Villas and the area too much to give up on it, but this stay fell short. We used to stay here several times, starting when the original owners were attentive to every detail and onsite to help. They even invited us to a chamber breakfast meeting. After hearing TRS had bought the property and reading mostly positive reviews, I hoped for the best and planned for an okay stay. Getting started was frustrating. Before my flight I called the main office for the key access code and asked which building was closer to the road. The woman sighed and said she’d have to look at a map. I’d also emailed about the building and our preference but got no reply. As a paying customer, I didn’t appreciate being made to feel like a bother for asking for help. There were only four plates for four people, a mismatched assortment of glassware and plastic cups left by previous guests, no serving trays, and just one towel per person. Several lightbulbs were out. The A/C leaked all night even though it was set to 72°F and we had no doors open. We turned it off for two nights and drained the water. I contacted the office and emailed twice, but was ignored. The pool area hadn’t been cleaned or maintained once during our eight days, so I cleaned it three times myself. The larger pool on Woodette also needed cleaning. The gas grills were nearly out of propane, so we shared a grill with a nice neighbor. The old owners were always around, and I hope TRS starts paying attention to customers and maintenance. The cleaning staff should report problems so they can be fixed. There are plenty of other places to stay, and the standard is slipping. Three or five years ago I’d have given this five stars; now it’s three, and it hurts to say that. Best views are on St.Joseph´s Dr., and the best pool and outdoor area are on Woodette D...
