Travelodge by Wyndham Dunsmuir

I've stayed here before, and this time I asked well in advance for a first-floor room because the hotel has no elevator. Even though we booked early and were traveling with young children and extra luggage, they didn't honor the request, which made the stay unnecessarily difficult. The rooms were adequately clean and had basic amenities, but the lack of consideration for our situation was disappointing. I'm unlikely to stay again.

The location has some nice bonuses: a 24-hour diner right outside, a view of Mt Shasta, and lots of coffee shops nearby. The check-in was easy, and the place was neat, clean, and quiet. We only stayed one night and didn't use most of the amenities, but they were all there. The service made us very happy, and this was much better than many places in this price range. We slept better than at home thanks to the great mattress and pillows. There was no coffee machine in the room, but I figured the diner and vending machines would cover that.

I was driving from SoCal to northern Oregon and stopped to see hedge creek falls. I was about to get back on the road and find somewhere for the night when I spotted this place, kind of in the middle of nowhere, and immediately decided yes. The location worked perfectly for me, and the rooms were honestly nicer than I expected.

The location right off I-5 was great, and having the diner there meant I didn't have to go out of my way to find food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I also loved that they had a gym that worked for my bodybuilding needs. The towels and linens smelled better than any I've used at a hotel.
