Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant, a Wyndham Grand Hotel

We're non-smokers, and much of the casino floor smelled of smoke, though it did remind me of old-school Vegas. Even so, the staff were excellent, and the whole property was clean, modern, and in good repair. My family had a fun 24-hour visit to Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant. It has every amenity you could imagine, including a great outdoor pool area and bar. We'll definitely come back.

The rooms were very nice and clean, and the kids had options like the arcade, movies, and bowling. There are things to do beyond gambling, which helped when we got tired of the casino. I liked it, and I'm glad we stopped even though it was a bit out of our way. The large pool is a bonus in summer. The gaming floor carpet could use an update. There's construction going on now, perhaps they're trying to finish before the pool opens, though I'm not sure. I wasn't fond of the outside lights on the second floor, but they do make the place look neat, so it's a tradeoff.

We had a relaxing junior suite overlooking the pool, and check-in was quick. The large bank of elevators meant no wait to get to the casino or back to our room. I always enjoy staying here, and the employees are helpful.

I went for a concert at the Grand Theater and would attend other events there for people I want to see. The theater was really nice, with great acoustics, lighting, and layout. I only played a few hands of blackjack, so I can't say much about the gaming based on 15 minutes. It was easy and pleasant to put cash on the table for chips, get a voucher to cash out, and actually cash it in. Food was my one minor complaint. I tried to eat at 1832 restaurant, but with limited time I couldn't get seated and served before the concert, so I went to the Buffet next door. The food was good, including the crab and other seafood, which I understand is what many people come for. Still, at $55.00 per person, I expected a thicker cut of prime rib. I've eaten at casinos in London, New Zealand, and the United States, and this was good food, just not worth that price to me. The ambiance and quality didn't quite justify the buffet cost. I'd recommend the restaurant and venue, and I'll return for concerts and blackjack, but next time I'll try another restaurant and leave enough time for a meal.
