Acorn Motor Inn

The rooms were old and filthy, and there was loud music from the bar in the parking lot well into the early morning. When I stayed here two years ago, the owner moved me to a different room without telling me and threw away the food I'd put in the fridge. When I brought it up, he had my belongings in a plastic bag, except for my laptop, which was still in the room. This place was awful. Don't stay here. The Motor City Inn down the street is twenty times better.

I paid Expedia online, and it was nonrefundable. I'm a rural home health nurse, and I arrived to check in wearing my badge. The proprietor refused to accept my credentialed service dog, shouted about his rights when I mentioned ADA law, and acted as though my letter was forged. I had left the dog in the car, but with the anger he was showing, I felt that if the dog had been there, it would have been unable to sleep all night. I said I'd find somewhere else, and I did. I felt accused of being deceptive, humiliated, and disappointed. As I was leaving, the owner mentioned reversing the charges, but I'm not holding my breath. My employer paid for my stay at another hotel, but this experience still left me more than 100$ out of pocket.

The lights were a problem at night: highway LEDs, nearby businesses, and what seemed like constant overnight "construction activity" kept shining and blinking into the windows. The owner's subcontractors were working right outside the rooms in the middle of the night, too, so it was hard to sleep during the week I stayed. EMF's from the nearby naval seaplane base/radome bothered me as well.

I went there looking for my daughter, who has behavioral issues, because I was worried her life was at risk. I tried to explain this and ask the manager at the window a few questions, but he just pointed at the clock, said they were closed, and basically dismissed me. The lobby smelled like crap, too. In my opinion, this is a horrible place and I wouldn't support the business. I don't see how it has a 3.7 star rating with the way the motel is run.
